Work: The Gift

It was given to stars to shine in the heavens,
to travel through space to the glory of God.
It was given to plants to grow in profusion,
to cover the ground in beauty and food.
It was given to man to dream and endeavor,
to dress and to keep and to learn how things work,
To imagine, create, enjoy, and give thanks,
to oversee, love, and cultivate earth.
The Fall made tasks harder but did not erase
the gifts that were given for each to employ.
As we embrace work as our gift and our offering,
we’ll find new sources of genuine joy!
